Abstract: The article discusses the issue of the necessity of the recipient’s participation in creating a message in the context of language difficulties related to naming, expressing and describing sensual experiences. Considerations are focused both on searching for the causes of difficulties in understanding mass communication partners, as well as on the difficulties that language provides in the transfer of specific olfactory experiences and their conceptualizations. The author attempts to present how the broadcaster of the mass communication deals with presenting and describing invisible phenomena, not always named, and the feelings and reflections associated with them, and how the recipient of this kind of message deals with its understanding.
