Abstract

According to the authors, the main reasons for the changes in the model of politeness in Poland that has applied for centuries is the contact with the world (direct and/or established by technological means), the development of the society of the net, individualistic postmodernist tendencies. Th e evolutionary nature of the etiquette, its constant development correlated with the changes of culture is hardly a novelty in history. However, the novelty of modernity is associated with the fact that the foundations of politeness change. Th e authors consider the change of the orientation of Polish culture – from the (unconditional) orientation toward YOU to the orientation toward ME – as the main, culturally conditioned change.
