Abstract: For a dyslectic student, learning a foreign language is a very complicated process,especially due to certain negative psychological reactions that this disfunction entails.The crucial aim of the following paper is to present the role of high self-esteem amongdyslectic students who try to learn foreign languages. The theoretical part of the followingpaper analyzes some possible factors contributing to the emergence of students’affective states. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and the Polish version of the GeneralSelf-Efficacy-Scale were introduced to collect data for the research. The data was collectedduring a one-to-one English lesson with a fifteen-year-old middle school studentwho suffers from dyslexia. The paper also contains some practical solutions that can beincorporated by foreign language teachers (and not only) during their lessons.
