The author of the article points to the fact that, according to the proverb, The way to a man's heart is through his stomach it is easier to find a husband for a women that cooks. Preparing meals, though, may also be a form of women liberation and a form of her artistic activity. Finally, the descriptions of the food perform a compensatory function, and remind us what the life was like before the Second World War.
