Abstract: The sketch presents an interpretation of Czesław Miłosz poem Hymn o Perle in the context of apocryphal problems. The author emphasizes the literary character of Hymn o Perle, which was not translated from the original Gnostic text, but it is a poetic paraphrase. Subsequently, the author compares the Hymn o Perle with Polish apocryphal translations: from Syrian language (translated M. Starowieyski) and from Greek (translated L. Rzymowska). Referring to the work of Hans Jonas The Gnostic Religion and Gilles Quispel's Gnosis the author shows relationships with the Gnostic tradition, especially the idea of primordial man, salvator salvandus and salvator salvatus. Interpretation of the text leads to the psychoanalytic theory of C. G. Jung and his concept of anima, as well as topics of androgyny (M. Eliade). In this interpretation the Miłosz’s poem represents the idea of a mystical union, spiritual androgyny.
